Roma dance is kept alive less through institutions than through direct, person-to-person transmission. Master dancers pass technique, repertoire and feeling to the next generation in families, studios and workshops.
A growing circuit of festivals and classes now lets wider audiences learn flamenco baile and other Roma forms directly from tradition-bearers.
