The Manouche guitarist who created gypsy jazz.
Jean "Django" Reinhardt (1910–1953) was a Belgian-born Manouche (French Sinti) guitarist and composer who, with violinist Stéphane Grappelli, created gypsy jazz and became one of the most influential guitarists in history. Despite severe burns that left him using only two fretting fingers fully, his virtuosity reshaped the instrument.
His compositions — "Minor Swing", "Nuages" and others — remain jazz standards.
